A 15-year-old boy from southwest suburban Tinley Park died Saturday night after he was found off a beach in New Buffalo, Mich., officials said.
A spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner's office said the teen was "unresponsive" in the water off a beach about 5 p.m.
The boy, Matthew Kocher of the 17500 block of Mulberry Avenue, was taken to a local hospital and flown to Comer Children's Hospital in Chicago. He was pronounced dead there at 8:21 pm.

Scheppers had cuts above his nose and bruising around his left eye when he spoke to reporters prior to Saturday night's game against the Indians.
"I'm just lucky nothing serious happened," Scheppers said.
Scheppers said he was attacked Thursday night. He was unavailable Friday night but said he could pitch Saturday.
Scheppers said he didn't file a police report.
The reliever said he was going out to dinner a few blocks from the team's hotel after the Rangers arrived in Cleveland on Thursday night following their afternoon game in Texas.
Scheppers was sucker-punched by several young Negroes and knocked to the sidewalk, but never lost consciousness. Scheppers said he wasn't robbed and that his attackers ran away.
The 26-year-old Scheppers said he was examined by a team doctor after the incident. He said he had a headache at the time but didn't sustain a concussion.
Scheppers, who stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 200 pounds, said police were called to the scene. The team informed Major League Baseball security.
"I was in the wrong place at the wrong time," Schepper said. Always stay away from any group of color thugs.
The Rangers lost Friday's game 11-8 in 11 innings whenRyan Raburn hit a three-run homer off Jason Frasor, who was beginning his third inning of work.
Scheppers is 5-1 with a 1.74 ERA in 46 appearances.
"I wish it wouldn't have happened, obviously," Rangers manager Ron Washington said. "Things like this just don't happen in Cleveland. They happen everywhere.".... everywhere blacks are gathered....

SYDNEY, Australia – Australia has announced a hardline illegal immigration policy – probably the toughest in the Western world – and by doing so has set up a showdown with international law and human rights groups, earned the ire of major world associations, and drawn out the naysayers from the United Nations.
Last week, Prime Minister Kevin Rudd announced that all asylum seekers who arrive in Australia by boat will be sent to Papua New Guinea for processing and resettlement and none will be allowed to stay in the country.
That’s none, as in not one.
That contrasts with the U.S. policy of lax border enforcement and casual deporting standards. In fact, President Obama is lobbying for a strategy that would “legalize” millions of illegal aliens who already are living in the U.S. and taking advantage of its social programs.
Rudd’s pre-election message is that Australia’s borders are closed to illegal arrivals. The announcement was made at a joint press conference with the prime minister from Papua New Guinea.
“From now on, any asylum seeker who arrives in Australia by boat will have no chance of being settled in Australia as a refugee,” Rudd told reporters.
This would be the equivalent of America sending all just-caught arriving illegals from now on to Bolivia, and stating that because of the circumstances under which they originally came, they will never have a chance to be settled in America.
“I understand that this is a very hard line decision,” Rudd continued.
“But our responsibility as a government is to ensure that we have a robust system of border security and orderly migration…”
In response to this announcement, a riot broke out at the Nauru detention center which houses illegal detainees, causing millions of dollars damage, destroying buildings in chaotic scenes said to be a reaction to a “cruel and degrading policy.”

Outrage as bananas thrown at Italy's first black minister
Italy has seen an outpouring of disgust after a spectator at a party rally threw bananas at the country's first black minister, who has suffered an onslaught of racist slurs since taking office in April.
Integration minister Cecile Kyenge, who was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, was making a speech at the Friday rally when a member of the audience began to launch the pieces of fruit towards her. The bananas missed the podium where she was speaking but the incident drew a deluge of condemnation in the media, where politicians and commentators lamented the shame brought on the country by the actions of the far-right.
"Another shameful and disgraceful gesture. Solidarity with the Minister Kyenge. Now let's just isolate the idiots," said Gianni Alemanno, former mayor of Rome.
"I am ashamed to share the country with people like this," wrote one Twitter user, Eugenio Iannelli, reflecting the dismay of many on the social media network.
The treatment of Ms Kyenge has thrown a spotlight on the ugly racist currents running through some strands of society in Italy, a country grappling with tensions over rising levels of immigration, particularly from North Africa.
Since her appointment in April she has suffered a campaign of harassment from far-right groups angered by her campaign to make it easier for immigrants to gain Italian citizenship.
Shortly before Friday's incident, members of the right-wing Forza Nuova group left mannequins covered in fake blood at the site of the rally in Cervia, central Italy, in protest against Ms Kyenge's proposal to make anyone born on Italian soil a citizen.
"Immigration kills," was written on leaflets left with the dummies - a slogan Forza Nuova has previously used to highlight murders committed by immigrants in Italy.
Ms Kyenge, who has largely maintained a dignified silence in the face of the abuse, issued a restrained condemnation of the act, calling it "sad" and a waste of food, considering the economic crisis.
"The courage and optimism to change things has to come above all from the bottom up to reach the institutions," she added.
The insults directed at Ms Kyenge since she took office have frequently come from other politicians. Earlier this month a senior parliamentarian in the anti-immigration Northern League party likened her to an orangutan and only apologised after a storm of criticism.

- Hollywood actor and Chicago native Dennis Farina tipped his hat to the Second City posthumously today.
In lieu of flowers, anyone making a donation in honor of his death will be sending their money to the 100 Club of Chicago. The organization helps families financially after they have lost a loved one in the line of duty. These are families of firefighters, police officers among others.

Dennis Farina, a Chicago native and 18-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department turned actor, has died at 69 in Arizona, his publicist said today.
Farina, best known as detective Joe Fontana on the long-running TV series "Law & Order," suffered a blood clot in his lung, publicist Lori De Waal said.
