Police say they are following "good leads" as they investigate the death of a newborn girl found in a washroom of a fast food restaurant in Calumet City.
The baby was found in the women's restroom of a Popeye's restaurant around 2:50 p.m. by workers and was about 15 minutes old, the Lake County coroner's office said. She was pronounced dead at 3:32 p.m. at St. Margaret Hospital in Hammond, Ind.
Calumet City Police Capt. Dan Zorzi said it appeared the mother gave birth to the girl there, and detectives were working on "good leads."
The coroner's office identified the infant as "Baby Jackson" with an address listed in Homewood. (Hmmm... did the Rev. Jesse Jackson knock up another broad?)
As of this morning, no arrests have been reported by police.
