Divers plan to resume the search for a man who jumped in the Chicago River last night.
The Chicago Fire Department was alerted at 8:42 p.m. about a man who was seen jumping into the river near Canal and Madison streets.
Witnesses said they saw a man jump into the Chicago River from the Madison Street bridge but police and firefighters weren't able to find the man and the search was suspended.
The call came from a building adjacent to the location. The caller said they saw a man jump into the river as they were standing near the building, according to the Chicago Fire Department.
As of 9:43 p.m., the man was not located and water rescuers were leaving the scene, according to the fire department.
Divers from the Chicago Police Department's Marine Unit are scheduled to search again in the morning.
