A 15-year-old Streamwood boy was arrested Thursday morning at Gifford Street High School in Elgin after a shotgun was found in a locker there.
Police received the tip that led authorities to search the locker about 11:30 a.m.
Police and administrators locked down the schooland searched the school, lockers and students. It was during the search that police found an unloaded shotgun.
"No ammunition or other unsafe items were found in the school," according to the Elgin police department.
No charges have been filed.
