New figures released by the Hurun Wealth Report indicate that there are 960,000 millionaires in China, up almost 10% from the previous year. 85,000 new millionaires were created in China last year. So how are these millionaires making their money?
According to the report, 55% of China’s millionaires have acquired their wealth through private businesses, 20% are property developers and 15% are stock market speculators. The remaining 10% are company executives. The average age of a Chinese millionaire is 39, which is 15 years younger than Western millionaires. The report estimates that one-third of Chinese millionaires are women.
