A Chicago man died this morning after walking into traffic on Interstate-80/94 in Hammond earlier this month and being struck by a vehicle, officials said.
Talgat Orumbayev, 2m, of the 4100 block of North Broadway, was declared dead at 4:54 a.m. at Loyola University Medical Center, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
The accident happened at about 7:11 p.m. Sept 14, soon after police were notified that a pedestrian was walking on the ramp from Indianapolis Boulevard to the I-80/94 eastbound ramp.
Orumbayev walked out into the right lane just east of the ramp and was struck, police said.
