A 22-year-old Romeoville man is in custody and will be charged with first-degree murder in the death of 17-year-old Carlos Orozco, Romeoville police said.
Fabian Almodovar was taken into police custody after being discharged from the hospital, Romeoville Assistant Police Chief Steve Lucchesi said. He said Almodovar, who suffered facial injuries and a concussion, is scheduled to be transported to the Will County jail Friday night.
Almodovar is accused of stabbing the Joliet teen in the chest during a fight in the parking lot at Jewel-Osco, 20 S. Weber Road. Police declined to release information on what led to the fight.
Prior arrest records list an address for Almodovar in the 1400 block of Windflower Court. Almodovar's most recent Will County arrest was April 1, when he was charged with domestic battery and battery, according to jail records. On April 2, a judge issued an emergency order of protection against Almodovar.
According to Will County court records, Almodovar pleaded guilty in April 2012 to charges including identity theft/unlawful use of a credit card and burglary.

A 17-year-old from Joliet died Thursday night after being stabbed during a fight in the parking lot of a Jewel-Osco store in Romeoville, according to Romeoville police.
Carlos Orozco was involved in a fight with a 22-year-old Romeoville man in front of the store at 20 S. Weber Road. Officers responded around 8:43 p.m. after receiving a report that of two people fighting and one being stabbed, a press release issued Friday by Romeoville police said.
Officers found the 22-year-old, who was injured, in a bathroom inside the Jewel-Osco store, according to police. He was transported to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet. He was later released and taken to Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital, police said.
Orozco was found unconscious in the parking lot with a stab wound to the chest, police said. He was pronounced dead at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital, according to the Will County Coroner's Office, which said his cause of death was multiple stab wounds.
Police said the 22-year-old allegedly pulled out a knife during the fight and stabbed the 17-year-old in the chest.
The case remains under investigation and is being reviewed by the Will County State's Attorney's Office for possible criminal charges against the 22-year-old.
