DETROIT — Down but not out, the Blackhawks have survived to fight another day.
They took themselves off life support with a stirring 4-3 comeback victory over the Red Wings in Game 6 of the Western Conference semifinals Monday night at Joe Louis Arena. Once trailing 3-1 in the best-of-seven series, the Hawks have won two in a row to even the Original Six showdown and force Game 7 on Wednesday night at the United Center.
Twenty minutes from seeing their season end sooner than anyone anticipated after racing through the regular season as the NHL's top team, the Hawks reeled off three consecutive goals in the third period to stun the Wings and return home riding high.
