A DuPage County judge Wednesday urged a teen to complete probation and community service to commemorate a friend who was killed while a passenger in the teen's car during a high-speed joy-riding crash in Aurora.
Judge Brian Diamond's advice came at the end of a court hearing for Logan Krogman, who pleaded guilty to a juvenile count of reckless homicide in connection with the Oct. 23, 2012, death of Devin Meadows, a 15-year-old student at Metea Valley High School in Aurora.
"There's a responsibility on your part to pick up his mission," the judge told Krogman.
Krogman, of Aurora, who was 15 at the time of accident, was originally charged as an adult, but prosecutors and his attorney agreed to settle the case in juvenile court. Under the plea, Krogman, now 16, will remain on probation until he is 21 and he must complete 200 hours of community service.
