At least 7 people shot & wounded in Chicago so far today - Over 25 since the weekend
A man was shot and critically wounded inside a building in the Beverly neighborhood this afternoon, one of at least seven people shot in the city this afternoon and evening, police said.
The man, believed to  be in his 30s, was shot in a building in the 9900 block of South Walden Parkway about 12:30 p.m., said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Joshua Purkiss.
The man's attacker fled the scene, Purkiss said. The victim was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition, with multiple gunshot wounds, Purkiss said.
A description of the attacker was not available.
Later this afternoon, a 30-year-old man was shot near 24th Street and Homan Avenue at 1:57 p.m., said News Affairs Officer Ronald Gaines. The man was shot in both legs and was hospitalized in good condition at Mount Sinai Hospital.
About 4:15 p.m., a 19-year-old man was shot in the hip in the 3000 block of South Lawndale Avenue, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Daniel O'Brien. He left the scene before police were alerted, and walked into Mount Sinai Hospital for treatment.
Just before 6:50 p.m., a man was shot in the side in the 7000 block of South Clyde Avenue, O'Brien said. His condition had stabilized at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
About 7:20 p.m., a 30-year-old man was shot in the back in the 8300 block of South Wood Street, O'Brien said. The man's condition was stabilized at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, he said.
About an hour after the South Wood Street shooting, two men were shot in the 6400 block of South Stony Island Avenue in the Woodlawn neighborhood. One man was shot in the mouth and the other twice in the left arm, police said.
