A body found burned in a Logan Square trash bin Sunday evening was strangled and the death was ruled a homicide, according to an autopsy finding.
Firefighters found the body burned beyond recognition after extinguishing a fire in a trash bin on the Northwest Side, authorities said.
The fire was reported about 11:05 p.m. in the 3100 block of North Kimball Avenue, Police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said. After putting out the blaze, authorities found the body but were unable to determine the victim's age, gender or race.
Those details remained unknown as of 3:30 p.m. today, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
