She was maybe as young as 17, with straight brown hair and an olive complexion. She wore a hoop earring in her right ear.
Officials say she was strangled and her body dumped in a trash bin that was then set on fire. They are asking the public for help in identifying her and tracking down whoever killed her.
The body was found around 11 p.m. Sunday after firefighters put out a fire in a trash bin in the 3100 block of North Kimball Avenue on the Northwest Side. An autopsy determined she had been strangled.
In a release seeking the public's help, police described the woman as white or Hispanic, between 17 and 30 years old, 5-foot-3, 120 pounds, with an olive complexion and medium-length brown hair, possibly with red highlights. She was wearing a blue shirt and had a hoop earring in her right ear and a tongue post, authorities said.
Police say they have opened a homicide investigation and say anyone with information should call 312-744-8261.
