Chicago Police: A Springtime Ritual - Blacks go on ROBBERY SPREE on Chicago's Southwest Side

Police are warning of a series of three robberies, some involving carjacking, in the Southwest Side's Chicago Lawn district in April.

According to a community alert released today, during the three attacks one robber approaches the victim and displays a handgun while another one or two robbers acts as a lookout/driver. Property is taken, including on some occasions a vehicle, police said.

The robbers took place:
-- On April 7 at about 1:25 a.m. on the 6100 block of South Campbell Avenue.
-- On April 27 at about 8 a.m. on the 6100 block of South Artesian Avenue.
-- On April 29 at about 3:10 a.m. on the 2200 block of West 63rd Street.

Descriptions of the suspects vary, but in general are described as Negro men 18-24 years old, 5-foot-4 to 5-foot-8 and 160-190 pounds.
