Weekend Tips: Who Makes the Call?

Sunday 12 May 2013

(By Brian Su) I heard a lot of stories that EB-5 regional center principals traveled to China and met with many Chinese emigration brokers who told them that they liked their projects! However, these brokers never took on their projects while they continued to engage dialogue and conversation with EB-5 regional centers. Is that wasting everyone's time? Were they truly serious or just playing tricks?

In addition to understanding Chinese business culture, you must have to know how decisions are made within emigration companies in China.  If you are lucky enough to have had discussions with emigration company CEO, work does not simply stops there. The senior staff members have to review offering documentation and come up with a due diligence review report, any opinion expressed by the key staff is very important for the boss to make a final call.  If during a trip to China, you were only able to meet with the managerial staff, you may be wasting your time as the boss probably may already have his or her own agenda in terms of which project shall be promoted.  Nowadays, many emigration companies have their own pet projects or projects that they have a financial stake in it.

Next time you go to China, make sure you know the decision process of each company that you are meeting with, then you will not waste your time and money, and pperhaps would have a better chance.
