(By Brian Su) As I mentioned many times in my seminars that there is not much loyalty in the competitive EB-5 marketplace in China. As an EB-5 regional center executive or EB-5 project developer, you are always searching for the right emigration agents to represent your projects to the investors. Signing a broker contract is a good start, however work does not stop there. There are uphill battles ahead with other competing EB-5 regional center projects that may offer better quality projects along with highly competitive incentives. Projects with exemplar approvals and I-526 approvals also have many advantages in the market.
There are many reasons that a Chinese emigration agent drops a signed project: 1) project marketing efforts encountered extreme challenges in the marketplace, agent drops it to cut cost on seminar and advertising spending; 2) another competing project offers better quality and incentives; 3) conflict occurred during the marketing process; and 4) the agent has signed too many projects and unable to deliver.
Communication and personality of your sales and marketing staff also play a critical role in the process of working with Chinese emigration agents. I have seen many conflicts due to personality or everyday communication issues. I heard a lot from Chinese brokers that "I do not like him" or "he sends me revised documentation every other day, he drove me nuts!
