Rapper Lil Reese to Chicago cops during drug arrest: ‘This ain’t a big deal. I’m gangster’

Sunday 14 July 2013

Yeah, Lil Reese might have had a little weed in his pocket.
“So what?” the Def Jam rapper allegedly told Chicago police just before his latest arrest this weekend.
“There’s serious crime out there,” he said, according to court records. “This ain’t a big deal. I’m gangster.”
But it was enough to drag the 20-year-old Washington Park man back into bond court for the third time in three months Sunday. Lil Reese, whose real name is Tavares Taylor, was charged this time with drug possession and violating the conditions of his bail bond.
Police said they caught him with a plastic sandwich bag filled with crushed green plant material and $2,090 cash Saturday in the 6400 block of South Eggleston. They said he was standing with other known members of the Lamron faction of the Black Disciples street gang when he noticed the police and tried to walk into a gangway.
The rapper confronted the officers about the significance of the drugs when they caught up with him. A police canine later confirmed the cash smelled like narcotics, court records show.
