Sixteen-year-old Alex Blouch Struck & Killed by a SUV while riding his skateboard in Mundelein

Friday 19 July 2013

Parents worry all the time when their teenage child is driving... Here we have a teen on a skateboard and he is killed... Life is truly a roll of the dice... Very sad.

Sixteen-year-old Alex Blouch, on his way home after missing curfew, told his father shortly before he died that he had fallen off his skateboard and didn’t feel good, the teen’s grandfather said Friday.

Blouch, who was to start his junior year at Grayslake Central High School in the fall, had been visiting his girlfriend in Mundelein before he was struck by a Honda SUV on U.S. Highway 45 at about 11:30 p.m. Thursday, police and family members said.

He apparently was headed back to his grandparents’ Mundelein house, where he had planned to spend the night, said his grandfather, John Shore.

“His uncle told him to be home before curfew. He didn’t come home at curfew,” Shore said, adding that Alex was supposed to be home by 11 p.m. “I tried to call him. He didn’t answer his cellphone.”

At about 11:45 p.m., Blouch spoke by cellphone to his father and uncle, who also had been trying to reach him, Shore said.
