Black man dies while fleeing from police while driving black

CHICAGO - A 29-year-old man died when he crashed his car in the North Austin neighborhood after fleeing police who had pulled him over, authorities said.
The man, whose name has not been released pending notification of family members, was pulled over by a police officer after running a stop sign, police said.
After the officer left his car, the driver took off, according to police. He lost control in the 5800 block of West Le Moyne Street, crashing into a tree just before 9 p.m.
The driver was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:57 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
A female passenger was taken to Stroger Hospital, where her condition was stabilized.
Police did not chase the driver after the traffic stop, police said.
