Two north suburban men have been charged with aggravated robbery after luring would-be buyers of used cellphones, authorities said.
Brandon Timberlake, 26, of the 2300 block of west Nichols Road, Arlington Heights, and Jay V. Dixon, 25, of the 8700 block of Central Park, Skokie, were arrested Tuesday in a sting operation conducted by Schaumburg police. Bond for Dixon was set at $50,000 today in Rolling Meadows branch of Cook County Circuit Court. Bond for Timberlake was set at $25,000.
Police said investigators set up the operation after a man told police he was robbed July 17 at gunpoint of $5,000 by the two after he responded to a Craigslist ad. Police said the victims had businesses in which they bought and refurbished used cell phones for resale.
