EB-5 probe may have impact on Chinese investors confidence

Wednesday, 24 July 2013

The Associated Press reported yesterday that USCIS director Alejandro Mayorkas, President Barack Obama’s choice to be the No. 2 official at the US Department Homeland Security, is under investigation for allegedly improperly helping a Virginia company secure approval for a Chinese investor who had been rejected for the EB-5 program overseen by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The investigation may have a negative impact on the Chinese investors confidence in the EB-5 program. The investors from China are already frustrated with current 12+ month approval process, they are concerned the probe will derail the normal approval procedures and make petition process even longer.
