High Pressure Newspaper & Bags of Fruit Salesman shot dead in Washington Heights neighborhood at expressway ramp - 9900 South Halsted

A man in his 30s was shot and killed near a gas station in the Washington Heights neighborhood on the South Side this morning, police said.

The man was shot around 5:50 a.m. at 99th and Halsted streets, according to Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli. He said two people were seen fleeing the scene.
Preliminary reports indicate the man was selling newspapers and food when he was shot.
