(By Brian Su) I was hosting inbound Chinese emigration agents in Chincago over the weekend, and I have to post my Weekend Tips today. I was kindly reminded by an EB-5 regional center executive about Marketing 101, here are my thoughts on some very basics about EB-5 marketing 101 in Chinese investors market.
1) Learn from the highly experienced professionals who have done deals in Chinese market if you intend to raise capital from Chinese investors.
2) I often see resumes of EB-5 regional center executives with good track record in private equity business in the US, when you talk about raising funds in China, it is totally different marketplace and culture as well as mindset. Learn what Chinese emigration agents and investors care about, they do not care how much you have raised in the US, it is history, it is not EB-5.
3) Do not pretend you are a China expert even you may have a sister in law who is Chinese. The truth is that you have no clue about how Chinese people think. Hire someone who knows the Chinese emigration industry.
4) Do not tell everyone that you have the best project. No one belives it except your own team.
5) Create and provide project presentations that can satisfy investor concerns, with a solid and effective presentation you will not be wasting other people's time.
6) Spend money to make money! EB-5 money is not free and not very cheap. Treat it as a real business, investors are not sitting on bench to wait for your project.
With nearly 100 various EB-5 projects to be marketed in Chinese market, where and how do you rank yours? To learn more about EB-5 marketing 101, join me at my exclusive Accelerated EB-5 Capital Raising Workshop on July 25.
