CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -
A body was found floating in the water off the 39th Street
beach Wednesday morning, police said.
About 6:25 a.m. police were notified that a body was seen in the waters of Lake Michigan near the 3900 block of South Lake Shore Drive
, police News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada said.
Estrada said the Chicago Police Marine Unit is on scene working to recover the body.
Estrada confirmed the body was that of a white male, although his age or other identifying information was not immediately available.
A University of Chicago student went missing from the college's nearby Hyde Park campus last week. Austin Hudson-Lapore, 20, was last seen on June 12 leaving his apartment in the 5300 block of South Kimbark Avenue.
A third-year biochemistry student at the University of Chicago went missing and his family suspects Austin Hudson-Lapore, 20, had ventured out to watch the storms passing through the city.
