Elisabeth Hasselbeck Exiting 'The View' and heading to Fox News

Tuesday, 9 July 2013

Elisabeth Hasselbeck has become the latest blonde talking head to join the ranks of Fox News.

The resident conservative of daytime talk show "The View" has left the daytime show and has joined Fox News Channel.
A spokeswoman for ABC said that Hasselbeck's last day on "The View" will be Wednesday.

Hasselbeck's "View" cohort Barbara Walters said that the soon-to-be-former coworkers of Hasselbeck -- who first gained notoriety on the reality competition show "Survivor" -- "wish her everything good."

"When Elisabeth survived 'Survivor' we wanted to make sure she would stay afloat," Walters said. "We have had 10 wonderful years with her and she will now be swimming in new waters. We will miss her and wish her everything good."

ABC acknowledged Hasselbeck's contributions to "The View" -- as well as her strong political beliefs -- in its own statement.

"For a decade, Elisabeth Hasselbeck has brought her passion and strong beliefs to 'The View.' We watched her journey from newlywed to motherhood, an Emmy Award-winning talk show host, author, entrepreneur and activist," the network said. "She stood behind her political views even if they were not the most popular opinions at the table never shying away from voicing a difficult question. We thank Elisabeth and wish her luck as she begins this new chapter of her career."

Hasselbeck will co-host Fox News' morning show "Fox & Friends," whose Gretchen Carlson is moving to a one-hour daytime program in early fall.

"I have been a long-time fan of 'Fox & Friends' and am excited to be joining their team in September as it is an honor to call the Fox News Channel my new television home," Hasselbeck said.
