Two Highland Park residents have been charged with prostitution and pimping.

Jose Lome-Rodriguez, 25, and Berta Perez-Molina, 43, both of the 300 block of Temple Avenue in Highland Park, were arrested July 19 after an undercover Lake County Sheriff's detective negotiated a price for sex with Perez-Molina, authorities said.

Lake County Sheriff's Office worked with Highland Park police on the investigation, after receiving an anonymous tip that the Temple Avenue house was "offering sex acts for money," according to the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

"When we received the tip, we got on it immediately with Highland Park, sent our detective in and negotiated a price," said Lt. Ed Haras, of the Lake County Sheriff's Office. "It was really pretty much cut and dry."

The arrest could be made after the negotiation, as per state law, Haras said. Lome-Rodriguez was charged with two counts of pimping and two counts of holding a house of prostitution, according to the Lake County Sheriff's Office news release. Perez-Molina was charged with two counts of prostitution.
