UPDATE: Woman gets 22 years in 2010 Bucktown baseball bat attack
The girlfriend of a man accused of beating two women, including a Northern Ireland exchange student, unconscious with a baseball bat in Bucktown three years ago was sentenced to 22 years in prison on Tuesday.
 
One of two people accused in the brutal beating and robbery of two women in Bucktown three years ago has pleaded guilty and faces 22 years in prison, officials said.

Marcy Cruz, 28, pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted murder in the beating of Natasha McShane and Stacy Jurich in April of 2010. Heriberto Viramontes, 34, is due to go on trial on Sept. 9.
Cruz is cooperating with prosecutors and is expected to testify at Viramontes’ trial, according to Tandra Simonton, a spokeswoman for the Cook County state’s attorney’s office.
