OKLAHOMA CITY – While investigating a brutal murder of a 77-year-old man, police say they have now arrested the man’s 18-year-old daughter for the crime.
Police found the victim, Jay Davis, dead inside his home back in late March with a cord wrapped around his neck and his wallet missing.
Friends told police the motive for the killing appears to be money.
James Harvey said, “Jay didn’t deserve to die the way he did.”
Harvey helped raise the victim’s daughter over the course of the last 3 years.
This week, officers came to a mobile home park in Del City and arrested 18-year-old Angelina Davis for killing her dad, who is 59 years her senior.
“She could hurt anybody,” said Jamie Hunter. “I’m glad she’s in jail. She needs to be there.”
Hunter had been friends with the suspect until recently when she claims Davis attacked her with a knife.
According to court records, Hunter told police Davis provided illegal drugs to her father, who then had not paid for those drugs.
MSgt. Gary Knight, with the Oklahoma City Police Department, said, “At this time she is the only arrest expected in this case.”
Police confirm Davis is the lone suspect in the murder.
The arrest warrant states, “Davis disclosed several details of the case concerning the crime scene and manner of death.”
Experts say those were details that she shouldn’t have known.
Police also claim “Davis harassed her father for money on a regular basis.”
Harvey said, “You know we love Angie like a daughter but if she’s guilty then she needs to pay for it.”
Police also believe the daughter’s cell phone had been in the area of the murder around the time of the killing.
Davis is currently being held at the Oklahoma County Jail without bond.
