2 hit by Taste of Chicago vehicle

Two people were hospitalized this evening after they were struck by an all-terrain vehicle at the Taste of Chicago, officials said.

The two adult victims were struck at about 7:15 p.m. and were taken in serious-to-critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, said Chicago Fire Department spokesman Juan Hernandez.

The accident happened on the grounds of the Taste of Chicago at Grant Park, Hernandez said. The ATV was being used for the Taste of Chicago operations.

The vehicle was used to collect garbage at the festival, police said. Police were investigating.
