Police: Drunk, semi-nude woman resists arrest, tries to bite officer
OLIVER SPRINGS — She was very drunk, semi-nude, didn’t want to get dressed and tried to bite an Oliver Springs policeman during the arrest process, according to an incident report.
That late-night escapade Monday resulted in numerous charges against Crystal J. Wombles, 35, who remained Wednesday in the Anderson County Jail.
Oliver Springs Officer Nathaniel Nelson said Wombles was “extremely intoxicated,” wearing just a shirt and “showing her bottom private parts to children and the neighbors,” when he and another officer arrived in response to neighbors’ complaints.
A few minutes earlier, Wombles was “all naked” on the porch of the Crystal Lane residence, prompting neighbors to escort their children into their homes, according to Nelson’s incident report.
Wombles was repeatedly asked to put on clothes but refused and resisted arrest as well as efforts by officers to clothe her. She tried to bite him on the arm, Nelson reported, and at one point she dropped a small tin containing two bags of suspected pot.
On the way to the Anderson County Jail, Wombles managed to remove cuffs and tried to open the police cruiser’s door and escape, according to the incident report.
At the jail, she had to be physically removed from the cruiser, tried to kick officers and again attempted to bite him, Nelson reported.
Wombles is charged with indecent exposure, public intoxication, resisting arrest, aggravated assault, attempted escape, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Wombles’ address is listed as Crystal Lane in Oliver Springs on the incident report, but jail records indicate she is a Rockwood resident.
