- The weekend’s first fatal shooting happened about a block away from the Chicago Police Department’s headquarters on the South Side.
Willie Clark, 32, was shot about 12:45 a.m. Saturday while standing with a group of people behind a building in the 3600 block of South Michigan Avenue, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
A male shooter approached and opened fire, leaving the man with a gunshot wound to the armpit, police said.
Clark, of the 2100 block of East 97th Street, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 1:25 a.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.
