CHICAGO BLACK AFRICAN AMERICAN VIOLENCE - At least 1,000 people shot & wounded in Chicago in the last 6 months

Saturday, 6 July 2013

But Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Supt. Garry McCarthy and the rest of the elected / appointed officials are TOO AFRAID to say BLACK VIOLENCE....

Six months into the year, more than 1,000 people have been wounded or killed by gunfire in Chicago.
And this is an improvement.
For more than a year, the Tribune has kept track of every shooting victim in Chicago and built a unique database.
Tribune reporters and photographers have covered scores of those shootings, often arriving while victims are still on the scene, sometimes talking, sometimes covered by a sheet.
Combined on pages 12 and 13, the data and their on-the-scene reporting tell a story beyond the up or down of crime trends, but show the inexorable toll of violence: Neighborhoods weary of yellow crime tape. Children who learn to duck when they hear a pop. Mothers terrified they might lose yet another son.
One 10-year-old boy cannot sign up for Pop Warner football this summer because he might dislodge the bullet lodged in his gut.
This is the heartbreaking echo of gunfire.
