Charged with the murder - David Twine, 31, of Matteson

A 34-year-old South Side man died today, more than a month after he was shot multiple times in a building in the Beverly neighborhood, authorities said.

About 12:30 p.m. May 15 the man was shot and critically wounded at a building on the 9900 block of South Walden Parkway, Police News Affairs Officer Joshua Purkiss said at the time.

The victim was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn with multiple gunshot wounds. 

At 6:20 a.m. on Thursday, 34-year-old Kyle Arrington of the 9100 block of South Damen Avenue was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

On May 17 a Matteson man was arrested during a traffic stop in the area of Arkadelphia, Ark., on a Cook County arrest warrant issued on aggravated battery with a firearm charges.

David Twine, 31, of Matteson was extradited and on June 1 was booked into Cook County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bail. His next court date was set for June 27, and it was not immediately known if charges would be upgraded before that appearance.

The shooting took place in the building's foyer, authorities said, “as a result of a dispute with the victim.”
