UPDATE: CAREER CRIMINAL AND WELFARE PARASITE Matthew A. Brown-Turner, 25, has been charged with murder and attempted armed robbery in the fatal shooting of Giovanni Donancricchia, 64, early Thursday morning. Brown-Turner was ordered held without bail in a Cook County Bond Court hearing this morning.

A Cicero restaurant owner was shot and killed when he confronted a robber who had put a gun to his wife's head, according to authorities and the family.

Giovanni Donancricchia, 64, was shot around 12:30 a.m. Thursday at his pizzeria, Albano's, in the 5900 block of West Roosevelt Road in the western suburb, according to Cicero spokesman Ray Hanania.

Donancricchia’s son, Saverio Donancricchia, 35, said his father and mother, Angela, 62, had closed the restaurant at midnight. Saverio said his mother told him the front door was locked.

“The gunman came in the back door and snuck up behind my mom and put a gun to her head,” said Saverio, based on information his mother told him. “She was attempting to open the cash register and my father came running from the back. He was working in a walk-in cooler. She screamed, ‘Give him what he wants.’
