Two charged in shooting of 13 in South Side park — neither believed triggerman

Two men were charged late Monday in connection with a shooting that wounded 13 people in a South Side park, allegedly an act of revenge because one of the men had been grazed in a shooting hours earlier. Cook County prosecutors approved charges against Bryon “Lord” Champ, 21, and Kewane Gatewood, 20, in the mass shooting at Cornell Square Park. Though police think both men played a role in the shooting, neither is believed to have pulled the trigger. The investigation continues, police said.
