56-year-old Sophia Paterakis - Killed when a large cooking grill fell on her - Paramedics "Flipped Her Over" to make sure she was really "Done"

State police say a woman was killed when a large grill fell on her as she was working at a Pennsylvania diner.

The Evening Sun reports the accident happened Tuesday afternoon at the Keystone Diner on Route 30 in New Oxford, Adams County. Police say 56-year-old Sophia Paterakis was working in a storage area when the grill, which was leaning against the wall and not in use, fell on her.

The New Oxford woman was flown to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

The death was ruled accidental.

Deaths like this are uncommon. The most recent comprehensive workplace fatality data from the U.S. Department of Labor lists only 43 people dying while working at a full restaurant in 2010. Of those deaths listed on the Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries, seven were falls and four were due to exposure to a harmful substance or environment.
