A Rockford man, his sister and two people from Chicago are accused of robbing a man and leaving him bleeding to death from stab wounds in an alley in the Austin neighborhood earlier this year.
Prosecutors say Marquis Anderson, 22, had just met the four earlier in the day on Feb. 11. After hours of drinking, they led him to an alley in the 5000 block of West Ohio Street and beat and robbed him, according to prosecutors. They decided to stab him to death because he knew where one of the attackers lived, prosecutors said.
Charged with murder and armed robbery are Ashauntiara Cody, 21, of the 5000 block of West Ohio Street and her brother, Victor Wilson, 24, of the 4800 block of West Creekview Road in Rockford; Deandre Davenport, 20, of the 7800 block of South Vernon Avenue; and Carlisle Lopez, 17, of the 5200 block of West Race Avenue.
