Police were searching for a woman who robbed a TCF Bank branch this afternoon on the North Side in the city's Edgewater neighborhood.
Shortly after 2 p.m., a woman walked into a Jewel Osco grocery store located at 5343 N. Broadway, continued on to the TCF Bank inside of the store and demanded cash, according to the FBI.
A gun was not brandished, but the woman made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
She fled the scene in an unknown direction, said Police News Affairs Officer Michael Sullivan.
The robber was described as a black woman with a dark complexion. She is about 35 years of age and 5 feet 7 inches tall and had a terrible urine like stench, the FBI said. She was last seen wearing red shoes and her head was covered with a light-colored bandanna.
