(Source: TUTRC) The Texas Urban Triangle Regional Center (“TUTRC”) just got back from the Invest in AmericaSummit 2013 (the “Summit”).  We had a great time in Shanghai; It was a great time to speak with other brokers and investors.  Some takeaways that we had are below:

Demand remains strong for EB-5.It was clear to us that there remains a strong demand for EB-5 in China. At the same time, it was clear that there is a heightened concern about fraud given the Chicago case, which leads to the second takeaway.

Investors are being very cautious given the action that took place in Chicago.  That being the case, it is important that developers and regional centers provide an overabundance of information about the project, developer, and regional center operator. Any supporting documents to confirm the statements made in the offering document will be helpful and, perhaps, even necessary to bring a comfort level to the investors and brokers.  TUTRC views this as good.  It is good because it will be a natural filter to weed out bad projects with the heightened due diligence being done currently by brokers and investors.  The Chicago case shows that the US’s system is working to protect investors and hopes that it will help prevent future fraudulent schemes from even taking place.

TUTRC had a great time at the Summit, looks forward to deepening the relationships made, and is excited to return to China soon. Log on our website at  www.eb5texastriangle.com.
